The Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania is the poster child for type 2 fun. As if the rocks and scrambles aren’t bad enough, both of my two aborted section hikes on the A.T. were in PA: once when I sprained my knee, and once when snow made the rocks unsafe. And snakes? I saw a total of 5 venomous snakes on the A.T., and they were all in PA during one 24-hour period. Due to the close proximity, Covid, meeting up with friends, and the aborted trips described I made a bunch of short trips.
