Southern Virginia embodies most people’s vision of the Appalachian Trail with big mountains, dramatic views, and green tunnels of rhododendron. It also includes the Virginia Triple Crown (Dragon’s Tooth, McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs) and Grayson Highlands, one of my favorite parts of the whole trail.
