This is a special post because it’s the first entirely new entry on this blog. The previous posts have either been moved from Good Wolf Gear or are existing YouTube videos. I’m also experimenting with presenting GPS coordinates and providing more narration on the video rather than sticking to my usual template.
I will have several posts on Massanutten because it offers an outstanding combination of proximity, trails, and simple logistics to northern Virginia. I make a lot of trips there, and whether you have a day, a weekend, or a whole week, Massanutten is ready for you – and I want you to be ready for Massanutten.
I just took advantage of a couple unseasonably warm March days to hike this logistically simple 20-ish mile loop that offers good views, moderately challenging trails, and a lot of solitude just 90 minutes from Fairfax. I made it to within a tenth of a mile of finishing the loop without seeing another person, but then I passed a dog walker near the trailhead on Highway 211!
Here are pictures and the GPS coordinates for the campsites featured in the video, in the order they appear:
Here’s the new video from my YouTube channel
And here are some other videos of mine from Massanutten
